Advanced Computing

The Advanced Computing Facility at KU provides strong computing infrastructure, with over 3000 CPU cores, facilitating computationally demanding metagenomics projects. In addition, via the NIH-funded K-INBRE program we have access to the K-INBRE bioinformatics core facility, providing technical expertise in the analysis of genome-scale datasets.

Next-generation Sequencing

KU has an Illumina HiSeq 2500 ultra-high-throughput sequencer in a dedicated, NIH-funded core facility. The facility is staffed with individuals experienced in library generation and sequencing, and has produced billions of short sequencing reads from a wide array of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms.

Technical Expertise

CMMCA investigators bring broad expertise across several disciplines including research in environmental engineering and remediation,  geomicrobiology and mineral production,  biogeochemistry and nutrient cycling, community ecology and assembly, gene expression and molecular evolution.
